few question on dropping differential small case

Can I drop the differential with cv joint still intact???

Does it require to take off rear diff mount casing when replacing diff bushing??

This is for 1991 e30 318is.

you can take the cover off (which holds the bushing) without taking the axles off. but if you want to drop the whole diff I'm pretty sure you have to take the axles off...
