Just installed an os giken differential. I am using the os giken fluid (expensive... $50/liter), and with this fluid the differential has been completely silent so far. I should be at the track on Friday so I will see if I notice any big changes. I am not a world class driver so no promises.Comment

awesome. is it a 2 way or 1.5 way unit? Is your e30 setup for tracking?
I have changed to a non-additive fluid for the kaaz, as I wanted MORE lockup on lower heat temps, Ive noticed it likes to warm up before grabbing hard with slip additive. it has gotten NOISIER though.OBD1 M54/M52TU swap as a M50b25

My e30 is a daily driver. I have 350/525 spring rates and all poly bushings, s50 swap, but it isn't too hard core.
Diff worked well on the track, I'm not a great driver but the car seemed to be able to power out of corners better which was a lot of fun. The differential is still silent.Comment

cool, locals w OS diffs say they are also pretty quiet.
Kaaz has a quiet rebuild kit center for street diffs, but my e30 is mainly a play car now :P
This Kaaz also does not seem to like Limited slip additive, it is happier running pure 75-90 fluid.
I have changed up line to adapt to this diff a bit, and personally miss the 2 way action of my prior OEM modified diff.
with 2 way action the driver can utilize rear traction left on the table when braking and turning in around apex, for hair pins the effect is similar to a tractors belts - the 2 way acts agressively on deccel and brakes the rear tires, this allows me to turn a tighter line going into and out of apex. With the 1.5 way LSD Deccel does not do much brake effect/lock up; I have to send the car into corners on an open diff line and send power to the diff to adjust apex line outOBD1 M54/M52TU swap as a M50b25
