    Shifter help

When I was driving today my shifter was starting to get really notchy and it was hard to get the car into gear. I get home, park, and come back out later to move the car only to find that it won't go into reverse. It's raining like hell, so I go back inside and when I come back later the shifter feels like it's totally disconnected from the transmission and it won't go into gear at all.

Any idea where I should start looking for the problem?

Is the shifter sloppy? I'd want to take a look at the shifter linkage.

      It's probably the linkage.

It was sloppy before, now it won't engage at all. I'll take a look at that.

        Thanks

Old parts will wear with time. My guess is you broke your selector rod. They are under a lot of leverage at all times. Its only a matter of time before it bends and breaks
