What is the sensor below the crank position sensor?

I have a busted sensor below the crank position sensor on an 84 325e. I cannot find an early parts fiche for the trans. All of the ones i have found have both the crank sensor (reference sensor) and the unknown sensor plugged.

On the fiche below the unknown sensor fits below #21

Dont know if you tried yet but Realoem.com can be your best friend at times like these. then you can reference that part number to bma auto parts. Its worth a shot

Yeah i checked them out, it had the same diagram i posted above. Thanks for tying though.

      ok found this :

86 - 11/86 BMW 528e M20 2 per engine Located at left side of bellhousing. Also referred to as speed sensor and reference sensor. One contact is required for each function. This should not be confused with TDC position sensor which is located in the front lower timing cover. For position sensor see part number 12 52 1 279 695.

This is weird, because the sensors defiantly look different.
when i search for the part by part number it comes up as "camshaft position sensor"

Here is the suggested reference sensor: http://www.blunttech.com/item.wws?sk...ch&weight=0.34

The sensors appear to look right but the descriptions are not at all referencing the proper location on the bell housing.
