Help tranny won't go in reverse

Mods I know this isnt the right section but I urgently need help as I discovered this problem on my way to work. Well on to the problem I stop at a gas station on my way to work and when I went to leave I tried to put the car into reverse and there it would go, it was like there was something blocking it from going in. I tried pulling it forward and shifting through all the gears and the going into reverse and still nothing. Figured maybe it was just acting up but I had to get to work so I drove to work and pull into a spot and tried reverse and still nothing. Never had any problems with the transmission and it's not making any weird noises, and I drive it from the gas station 20 miles to work and every other gear was engaging fine, so I was wondering has anyone else experienced something similar, could it be the shifter bushings are worn out? I'm hoping it's not something like a bent shift fork. I have work for the next five hours any help would be greatly appriciated. Oh yeah forgot I add the car is a 318is

time for a new trans. It is something internal, and prob. just as easy to just replace the trans., as to see what is wrong by pulling it apart.

If you need to back up. Park facing uphill.

          Problem averted.

Kinda similar. I bought an e30 once and after driving it for a bit I discovered a similar problem, the car would start to roll back then it felt like i was hitting a curb. Turned out one of my front brake caliper bolts waste torqued down, so it came out and when the wheels spun backworks the caliper locked up my wheel. lol

By your logic it would be ok for me to walk in to Best Buy and steal a TV because I know I am not supposed to do it.
