Getting the driveshaft to adjust easily

My driveshaft is a big bitch to get it to move at least a millimeter, my friend's driveshaft can move up and down the splines with absolute ease. What gives? Any tips on getting it to adjust easier?

I actually just went through this. I assume you have it out of the car and such? When I had mine split apart to replace the CSB, I cleaned the splines with a dremel wire brush and naptha. The naptha seemed to do a good job of dissolving all the old, dried grease that was buggering the whole thing up.

A common cause of this is old grease in the joint and/or a bad fiber washer. Either can be replaced.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
