    Shifter 3.0 problem, need help

I know this has been talked about before but i can't find the info i'm looking for after about 2 hours of search.. Please help me!

I just installed the z4 3.0 going from a z4 2.5 in my 318is. But when i shift from 3rd to 4th and 4th to 5th it rubs on the cylindre shaped thing under the shifter (drive shaft?) but only while rolling, do I need to bend the selector rod, or the shifter? Thanks any help appreciated

Remove the balancing ring/dampner from the driveshaft. Problem solved. Look in the shifter thread for more info.

I've got the same setup and it was a direct install just remove the clip on the selector rod on the bottom of the old one and drop the new one in and put the clip back on. I have a 318is also. No problems with it rubbing or hitting anything. Ive had it on my car since 2004.

It rubs a bit on mine as I said from 3rd to 4 and 4 to 5. My car doesn't have the harmonic balancer I think it's rubbing the driveshaft.. I don't know why yours isnt rubbing though.. Would bending the selector rod help?

Your bushings front and rear are likely shot. Every car is a little different but if its all fresh and you dont have a balancer on it shouldnt rub
