Getrag 260 problems! Seems like the drive shaft popped off

Ok I just picked up this 91 325i and supposedly it had a blown diff. So I trailer it home and jump in it to see if it moves and it does but then there's a clunk and as if the drive shaft has popped off the end of the transmission so I push the clutch in and let it level out and try it again and it moves then makes that clunk and the sound of if the drive shaft is not fully on the end on the transmission.I had a friend tell me about a pin that can break in the transmission that can cause this. I have searched but came up with nothing. let me know if anybody has any experience with this. I would just jack it up and take a look but where I live has gotten a lot of rain and I can't drive through the yard to get to my shop at the moment.

    thanks in advance.

A broken half shaft can cause this, as can a blown differential or destroyed drive shaft. While you may not be able to drive the car into the shop it can be pushed with a little help from your friends.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

My shop is surround by grass and its very very soggy ahaha. The sound I'm hearing is coming from the transmission area. I guess I wont know 100 % what it is in till I tear into it.

Could be guibo, center support bearing, or even a broken trans.

We really can't tell you what's wrong with it, you need to LOOK at the car.

Yea I know that . I was just wondering if anyone has had this problem before. So I know what to expect.

Well it's not exactly normal for a driveshaft to "pop off" since it's held on to the guibo by 3 bolts and the guibo is bolted to the trans with another 3 bolts.
