bitch clip removal with trans in car?

Ive read a lot about using a pick or wire to remove the clip. I went and baught the clip. I could not even feel the groove where I am supposed to pry the clip, but reguardless I was at work and still had the shaft and exhaust in.

I am going to drop the shaft and exhaust to free up some room, but I am afraid I am going to have to lower the tranny. I read that some guy removed the rear brace on the trans, and it did not lower, and that seems to be one of the only things holding it up besides the bellhousing bolts.

Any tips on removing this? Something broke in my linkage and currently borrowing a car.

If you remove the rear brace it should drop a bit and give you a bit more clearance. Just don't keep it like that for any prolonged amount of time since you're adding unnecessary stress on the engine mounts.

I used a hook to remove the clip myself.

Yes, it will definitely drop down when removing the trans brace. I usually use a small stubby flathead screwdriver for the clip.
