Bad CSB/Guibo? Noise from under center console.

I just put in a new rear sway bar, and decided to jack up my car from the differential and placed jack stands under the subframe.

After buttoning everything back up, I took it for a drive. On inclines, regardless of degree, a loud noise (what I think is a loose driveshaft tapping from the underside of the car) is, well, audible.

I wanted to get some input and see what you guys might think it is before I go ahead and drop the exhaust in a few days. The issue may or may not have something to do with acceleration... Could it be a bent driveshaft bolt? Guibo? Differential bushing? The sound comes from under the e-brake console, and is pretty violent. I have replaced the motor and transmission mounts on the car, so that rules them out.

    Thanks.

When my center support bearing went south there was a vibration at high speed. That later developed into a thump behind the front seat under load.

Cannot be felt in the shifter, and it feels like it's right under the e-brake console, so not behind me but beside me.

I took it on the freeway and it only occurred once when I hit a big bump. On city streets it happened on inclines and over bumps. I hope to Elohim that it's just my guibo, not really down to buy a new driveshaft.

you can definitely see the guibo without dropping the exhaust.

its right in front of the transmission brace. when its shot youll see threads.

when mine was bad, it mostly clunked on take off, and definitely at an angle. It calmed down at speed.

now the csb, thats a real pain to even look at its behind these huge heat shield things. Im sorry to tell you, that by the time you are there you are already removing the whole exhaust and have all the parts ready, because its a bitch. All of it.

When I looked at it I was amazed it wasnt making noise at all speeds, theres literally an inch or so of play. Im not sure whats holding the ds in straight at that point.

bad motor mounts often kill a guibo.

And strangely enough, mine fucked up after I reconnected a front sway bar end like the same day.

It started out like a far off jack hammer sound from stops and then it got real close. the area you are describing is where the guibo is.

oh god I hate guibos and If I ever have to do that again Im putting in a poly guibo or a metal one.

I dont care about what its saving, even the driveshaft, if the damn thing wasnt there taking out the driveshaft would be cake.

Hey, thanks a lot. I meant to PM you on your guibo post in Bimmerforums, but I only have 3 posts on there XD. Hopefully I'll be able to look at it today. However, I'll have to drop the exhaust to replace it anyway, right?
