    linkage

Is an I linkage the same as an E linkage. I got a car and the owner told me he out a I linkage in when the E linkage broke. Its really hard to shift the tranny, it hits the left side of the console. I just need some clarification on if the linkage is the same.

There is only a difference between early and late model shifter consoles. The early model shifter assembly is some piece of garbage doo doo butter flat piece of trash can metal. And since most early models are Es I'm guessing that is what he is referring to. He probably switched to the late model shift carrier which is a nice aluminum stick.

If you have an aluminum arm coming from the transmission, they're the same.

If you have a sheet metal plate with the shifter inside of that, you'll want to see if your G260 has the ears on the top for the shifter arm style.

You can't install the arm style without those ears, so chances are he did. I've had 2 E's that had arm shifters on them.

But, he very well could have installed the shifter itself backwards
