    Drive Shaft Q - 86es

I have a 86 325es that has a shot csb. I found a complete shaft on CL that has been recently rebuilt (3k miles on shaft) for a 89 325is for 75.00. Could I use the IS back half with my current front half with a new csb designed for my current front half?

    86es part # 26111225635 (1483mm)
    89is part # 26101226733 (1489mm)

    Thanks.

    yes you can.

BUT, you should get it balanced. unless it's dirt cheap then just go get yours rebuilt. it takes 1 day and it totally worth it. if it's cheap, then in the meantime make sure the u-joints are lined up when you put the two different halves together. if it vibrates, flip em 180 and it should be a little better.

more important question is do you have the larger flex disc or the smaller one?

I believe the smaller flex disc is on the es cars which is what I have. The smaller flex disc is the reason I would need to use my existing front shaft, right? The complete shaft is 75.00 which I consider pretty cheap for a recently rebuilt drive shaft.

Very cheap for rebuilt. And the 'i' cars have the smaller diameter and the early eta should have it too. Generally the late 86-88 eta's have larger flex discs.
