    E30 rear end noise?

Last summer I took the sub frame with differential and all out of my e30 and replaced bushings and sub frame bushings. Ever since I put it back there was what started off to be a slight whine/ roar at higher speeds and has progressively gotten louder. It has gotten the point where it is annoying even with radio blasting. When I jacked the rear end up and checked for play in my wheel (Wheel bearings) there was none but noticed play and clanking sound when i roll the wheel forward or backwards Quickly. It sounds like its coming from the differential. any help is apprecited!

I'd be more suspicious of the half shafts. Though the whine is more likely to be the wheel bearings.

Its roaring whine. Around 30-50 its more of a roar and the faster is developes in to a whine. I think its coming from the right wheel.

That does sound a bad wheel bearing.

poly-urethane. I jacked the rear up and had someone speed up it sounds louder on the right side so I'm thinking right wheel bearing?

When you replace the wheel bearings, do you need grease at all? They look sealed to me?

They are sealed. They are an extraordinarily tight fit into the trailing arm/hub. dont use grease between the new bearing and the hub. I froze mine over night.

I am excited in that I get to do my second one in a year soon, as I of course own more than one E30. I followed a You-tube video on an E46, but used similar techniques. I used a 3 inch section of PVC pipe and a long threaded rod with brearing drivers from Harbor Freight that are 72mm ? which push the bearing through

I am also checking half shafts and diff while under there; my sound is almost as if it were a very loud fuel pump, except for the fact that it varies with speed and is still there with engine off
