Which short shift kid best for fast shifting?

I'm looking for a good short shift kit. I want one that will maximize the speed of my shift. I've heard real good things about the Z3 1.9 and that the Z4 may be too notchy for precise, speedy shifting. What do you guys think? I'd like to mostly hear from people who have used multiple ones, like driven friends cars or whatever.

m coupe and a couple of washers to drop the trans down. rubs on driveshaft otherwise

I would take the vibration dampner off/bend the selector rod first before even slightly alretering the angle of the drivetrain.

The Z4 3.0 is the shortest, the Z3 1.9 is the fastest.

Or get creative and move the shift consule up instead, or just the where the pivot ball sits(in my case).

                      z3 2.8 feels great.

should be about the same has an e36M one. which could be found around $25 used on bf.com if you search and be patient.

I went with the Z4 2.5. It was a little notchy at first but very smooth now. I like it.

None of them. Shifting speed is mostly limited by synchro action inside the transmission, not the shifter. You can force shifts to make them faster, but you're causing premature wear to the synchros.

Do your best to match engine and trans input speeds, thats about as quick as you'll get without banging the synchros.
