    Rear Whine

I currently drive a 1989 325i, with a 3.73 open diff. As what I read from searching this forum, if the whine, is audible at cruising speeds and changes tone when you either step or let go off the accelerator the diff is probably going bad. I already changed the fluids and the whine is still there. Any thoughts?

probably the lash on the gears, but could simply be bearings, too.

it is possible to change. would it be worth it? probably not with an open diff. find your self a good used LSD and swap it.

edit: and you can wait for it to fail if you want. or just find any old diff to swap.
