    selector shaft knuckle replacement

Okay, I've done this job on my car, but I had the transmission out of it. Obviously making it easier to do. Is it possible to replace the shift knuckle that snaps onto the selector shaft for the gearshift with everything still in place on the car?

My friend's car got stuck in gear (probably first) and the selector rod is completely off the transmission. Bad thing is that the car is 90 miles from home since he is down at college. Should he be looking to trailer the thing?

It can be removed with the trans installed. I just did it on mine, but the driveshaft, exhaust and heatshields were off. Not sure if you could do it with that stuff installed. Maybe

Make sure you tow it backwards if possible. Not good for the drivetrain, if you tow it with the rear wheels on the ground.

acctually I was thinking the car is stuck in first gear. it would have the front tires on the ground and rears off. but if it is in 1st gear can I push it backwards up a dolly without removing the driveshaft.
because at that poiint I might as well fix it on the spot.

Use your brain mikey. Get in the car and push the clutch in, then you can move it. You are more than likely going to need that part. Might as well get all the pieces and fix it for good. Its only about 30 bucks if your not getting a new lever. If you get it home this weekend I can probably fix it for you. better go to towson and see if they have the parts..... oh well, im going to give you a call anyway.

                yes do that.

you know I don't think when my dad get's involved.
he says one thing and I always think he knows what he's talking about.

I think he is going to get a dolly and we will tow it with the explorer.
how many people do you think we will need to push it up??? cuz I have no clue and I might need to find some people here.

anyways do you know all the parts I need? I don't know and might be able to get them today but will probably have to get them tomorrow.
