G260 vs G250 for a m50 swap

Bought the motor with a g250 and driveline from an e36.
What are the advantages/disadvantages of using a 250 verses a 260?

G250 is considered to be a weaker transmission than the G260.
G250 has a 1:1 5th gear that makes a diff ratio longer than 3.45 (or so) nearly unbearable on the highway as a DD (ZF shares this ratio issue)

G260 requires a custom/Aftermarket brace.

Both can use stock driveshafts, depending on what size guibo you have.

Top transmission for the swap is considered to be the ZF 310/320 from the M3/328

Thanks Scott. I've heard that the 250 was weaker but have never heard what the weakness was. Can you elaborate?

Hi Keith, I would just use your M20 G260. It's the easiest solution, since you can use your existing driveline and differential.

As stated, you will need a custom made 24v trans brace, since the trans will be rotated 10 degrees clockwise. Likewise, your shifter linkage will have to be bent 10 degrees also. A simple solution would to be buy the UUC DSSR for 24v swapped cars with the G260 ($100.) It allows you to bolt the selector rod in (no modification required,) use any short shifter you want (no modification required either,) but the biggest plus-- ZERO slop in the shifter, which has been a problem with the custom bent selector rods is a sloppy shifter.
