As some of you may have seen I had my 85' E30 up for sale for a couple weeks. Right before I had a serious buyer the car decided it was unhappy with the guibo it had in and in turn spit it out with three broken bolts. This saturday I replaced the guibo and installed all new bolts along with thread lock and the proper torque on each one. This morning on the way to work I heard a clunk and the car started vibrating. I was about a quarter mile from work so I gingerly drove it in and left it parked. I'm not sure if i'm going to try and drive it home as I only live 10 minutes away or if i'm going to have it towed. My question to all of you is what could cause the bolts to keep breaking and if I decide to sell it as is how much would that kill the value?

What drive shaft, guibo, and trans do you have in it? The e30 d/s & guibo use 10mm bolts while the e36 uses 12mm bolts. A) If you use a combination of parts, you will have slop that will make it easy to sheer the 10mm bolts B) the 10mm bolts are not as strong. If you're using all e36 stuff then I don't know what to tell you.1997 540i/6 - stock

Well the issue is finally fixed and it happened to simply be something that I foolishly overlooked. All of the bolts on the guibo were tight and secure. It's an E30 driveshaft and guibo that was replaced with all OEM BMW parts. What I hadn't realized and stumbled upon yesterday was that my transmission bushing bracket was completely loose and just rattling around. I'm pretty positive that this was my culprit for the vibration as it's now gone and may have caused the bolts to break previously.
