    getrag 260

Hey guys, so i bought a 89 325is! i love it. My first bmw, and its an e30:) ive done some work to it already... just mechanical. But im putting a stage 3 clutch in it this weekend. I will replace the ouput shaft seal and shifter seal... because its leaking oil from the dhifter one it looks like. i was wondering do you guys have any tips for me on how to get the tranny out.. or maybe to put the new seals in without breaking them?? thank you very much, any help is appreciated!

    Follow the tips here: http://www.pelicanparts.com/bmw/tech...ch_Replace.htm

Good luck! It's really not hard especially if you have air tools, just time consuming. Make sure you get your flywheel resurfaced too and replace the rear main engine oil seal too.

Thanks for the reply, and yes i do have power tools.. so it should be fun. My question now is... am i going to have to take the back cover off of the tranny to replace the seals or no?

the back cover? no...unless you mean the output flange. i'd recommend getting the thin walled 30mm socket to take off the output flange (and a bearing puller) and do that seal as well. you'll need to remove a cover in the front to get to the input seal though. the shifter seal just use a thin flat head to hook it and pull it out, but be sure not to scratch the shifter arm. once you get the transmission out and have it sitting in front of you it will all make sense. it's pretty easy.

i ground down a regular 30mm impact socket. Worked for me, and eaiser to find than a thin walled one. Just a tip.

Ok, thanks again. I will need to fill up the tranny after it is done. And it wont be this weekend that the project is kicking in, my clutch never got here. But can i run 80w-90 oil in it?
