    Silly 5-speed swap question

I have a '91 325i auto with an air bag. Is it true that the pedal assembly is different from the newer to later models and also with the later models with an air bag, or am I being trolled here...

    Thanks for the help guys.

The pedal box for an air bag equipped car is different from that used on earlier production.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

On an airbag car you can just change the pedals themselves, no need to swap the entire pedal box like the non-airbag cars.

And don't worry about fitting the clutch spring assembly, it isn't needed.

So, in theory I can use ANY pedals from a manual e30 without modification?

It sucks to take out 91' airbagged pedal boxes the whole steering column has to come out :/ Bump

                this should help yah!!!

as for your pedal the non airbag pedals can fit on a airbag car but all u need to do is loosen the nut on the end of the bolt that goes horizontally to hold the auto brake pedas in and replace the bolt with the longer one from a manual non airbag car then throw ur clutch pedal and smaller brake pedal on the bolt only things being changed is the bolt and the brake and clutch pedal! good luck i did this to mine and it works perfect

i just ran into this problem yesterday, my brother is swapping a 90 325i equipped with an air bag. From reading above it sounds like we can just hang the pedals from the early donor car onto the existing pedal box in the 90. That will make his day when i tell him. Thanks r3v for your wealth of info!

Although the pedal will likely rattle if you leave it out. I'm a lot happier with it in.

Not if the pedal is installed correctly, why would it rattle??
