hi,
i have a low mileage 60k 91 vert.
all the time when i shift, it feels like when i change gears that the shifter doesnt smoothly go into gear but rather that the synchro first gets grabbed then it has a delay while it lines up the gears then it drops in.
here it is another way. im in 2nd and i push the clutch in and move the shifter into 3rd. when the shifter hits 3rd gear slot you can almost feel the synchro/gear go in part of the way [thats why i think its got the synchro] but then you have to keep constant pressure on the shifter, not real hard but normal pressure, and then after a short time maybe 1/4 - 1/2 second delay it goes into 3rd.
but when i try to shift fast it usually doesnt work out and i wind up grinding the gears.
i bled the clutch and although the pedal felt stiffer the shifting is about the same.
the trans mounts and motor mounts arent broke and seem ok but im sure they could use replacement.
i dont think that slop in the shifter linkage could be doing this but then again maybe the combo of tired bushings in the shifter linkage, the trans mounts and the motor mounts are all adding up to cause this.
but that doesnt really explain why the gears cant be shifted quickly unless there isnt enough throw in the shifter and the gear has to "find its way in".
i dont want to just start replacing parts until i hit the problem.
i replaced the fluid with redline mtl. the old stuff didnt look bad at all. it looks like it was serviced at the dealer and /or quality shops.
i dont think that gl5 was in there and harmed the synchro [yellow metal].
the slave cylinder does not leak but i know that they can be bad without leaking, the same goes for the master cylinder.
i didnt adjust the stop on the clutch mainly because i dont think that the problem.
the trans has no other issues other than a slightly leaky rear seal. it doesnt whine or make any weird noises.
what do you think is the problem and why and did the same happen to you.
it sucks not being able to shift quick and grinding the gears is very painful.
thanks
