whats the best m20 clutch option

looking at options for my m20 turbo clutch. i thinking HD and metalic puk compound of some sort.

ive been looking at VAC - clutch masters and spec clutches. also xtreme clutches, which are a local product, im not sure if they are sold in the U.S.
also custom made.... but that could be risky as all custom stuff ussually is.

my question is what people believe is the best. obviously as im in NZ i dont have the experiance with the american products. ive only used clutch masters once. and that was a customers car.

as for everything in my country, i dont trust them. too meny mixed feed backs for me to be confident.

im wanting feed back on the american products mainly. hoping for a fairly soild positive feed back on something so i can have confidence in what i should buy.

    thanks, leigh.

What clutch to use is a function of how much power the engine is making and how the car is used. If the car is driven on the street you don't want "too much" clutch as it will be grabby and a pain in stop and go driving. In that case it would better to back down a bit on the clutch and avoid large applications of the throttle until the clutch is fully engaged. If the car is a pure track car you can live with a stiffer, more grabby, clutch.

I've used a ClutchMaster Stage II and a Spec Stage III on a Spec E30. The Spec clutch that is in the car now is not too grabby for street driving, but you have to be careful from a full stop as the clutch is close to an "all or nothing" engagement. Consequently it isn't hard to get it wrong and stall the engine.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

i dont mind an agressive clutch. the car will be putting out 400whp (+ or - a bit)

it will be street legal and largely street driven. but i will also be tracking it every so often and itll see abit of drag racing too.

so i basiclly want something that can take the odd clutch kick, some heavy shifting but is still possible to street drive.

im looking at the spec stage 3, i think the are 4 puk? and sprung centre too? with the heavy cover plate.

the clutch master i used on my customers car as more agressive but still organic. but only behind a factory motor with a stage 1 cam.

hoping to get some soild feed back. at this stage spec clutchs are looking like my best option. also well priced.

fit a S38b36/s38b38 clutch and flywheel. use M50b25 or m30 starter

this works with M20 engine and g260 original gearbox.

or fit any clutch set designed for S52 engine (oem or aftermarket) and matching starter.

both are 240mm disc and can take 350-400rwhp for the OEM setups, much more for aftermarket.
        OBD1 M54/M52TU swap as a M50b25

Z4 non powered steering rack fits e30

        Euro e46 2005/6 320d 6mt gearbox into E30 with M20 hardy and beck 1985 327s engine

The spec stage 3 is a sprung 6 puck. I also have it in my e30 as well. I really wouldn't want to daily drive the car with the spec stage 3, but I have in the past. It's not impossible, but you can stall the car if you're not paying attention or in a rush. (or you can just roast some tires if you get frustrated)

this might be worth looking into. however i dont think the parts are as available in this country as they might be in the US. however i will look into it.

my old nissan g20 sr20de used to push 220whp and i daily drove that with a 4puk in it. im all too familiar with how easy to botch up on a clutch like that is. and how easy it is to bake the treads

thanks for the input guys. ill look into how available and the cost of both the spec stage 3 vs the clutch/flywheel and stater combos stated above. and make a choice from there.

            thanks, leigh
