installing g260 geartrain woes please help

ok guys i am rebuilding my 260. but i am installing the layshaft and geartrain back into the rear of the case and it doesnt seem to spin correctly. it will spin about 3/4 turn and then it get stuck. is it possible the layshaft is off a tooth or something?? i re-installed it 4 times trying to remedy this with no luck. i do have a bentley and it doesnt state that you have to be careful about this. i even tried to to spin it with the front case on as well. this is really frustrating if anyone can help please

thx i got it all figured out.. turns out the synchros were off a little and rotating crooked. but thanks for the website they were a big help
