    325e transmission in 325i

Ive lost second gear completely and slowly 3rd gear barely engages half the time. Im in desperate need of a transmission but all i can find are manual transmissions for the 325e. I have a 89 325i, any insight?

You can use the transmission from an ETA car in yours. But unless you find a transmission from a very late 325e you will have to switch to the sheet metal shifter or get the M3 adapter for the aluminum shifter.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

It's easy to identify the old vs later eta trans. The older version has provisions for the speed and reference sensors on the side of the bell housing, the newer versions do not. I used the sheet metal plate of the older version and modified it for a BandM shifter but with new bushings the stock set up is good.

The other issue is the output shaft yoke for the flex disk. Early eta's are a smaller diameter than the later versions. The yoke from your trans can be swapped to the eta. It takes a fair amount of torque to break loose the nut for the output shaft yoke and it must be reinstalled with a special loctite produce. I forget the number off the top of my head but it's a locking agent that requires some heating with a heat gun. I have a tube at the shop if you need the part number. I made a special tool for holding the yoke so it could be properly torqued upon installation.
