F1 clutch disc backwards??? help.

F1 Stage 2 clutch kit.
Shaved single mass flywheel.
Getrag 260.
M20.

I finished putting everything back together today with the transmission bolted back on too. I am now second guessing myself having the clutch disc on backwards.

By looking at the picture below.
I have the side with the blue sticker mated to the pressure plate(trans side)
while the side showing more of the springs is mated to the flywheel.

When I received the kit, it came with this so called instruction that is 99% only telling me what will void my warranty...
I've searched everywhere, but came up empty.

Any stress reliever would be awesome. thank you!

I think you installed the disc correctly.

havent changed out one of those clutches specifically, but the clutch I have on the shelf for my g265/m30 will only fit on one way. if you flip it around then it wont contact the flywheel.

what makes you think its backwards?

It is the onset-paranoia that occurs after doing a time consuming/difficult job! haha happens to me all the time! But really, why do you think it's backwards?

I agree with Jim, i think you mounted it correctly. Generally, clutch discs mount with the side that the splined section protrudes from the most towards the trans.

If turned around, the protruding splined section will hit the flywheel and damage/ruin the clutch disc if you tighten the pressure plate down on it. It will also not disengage or act normal at all in this position.

Thank you guys. I'm just paranoid because of all the horror stories of others mounting these clutch disc backwards and there's no label on them of which way it goes, only a sticker. I didn't even try if it goes the other way either. I'll just have to see ones start up, I'm just working on other stuff for the moment.

i have been driving the car since the day after the last post i made on this thread.

I put one of these in my M50 swapped cars backwards, it's very possible. Usually the spring side goes out in my experience but the F1 clutch required the opposite. The plus side is that I got really good at removing my tranny!
