Pops out of 3rd... Downshifting

The car shifts smoothly into all gears... Except when downshifting, only into third, sometimes, it wants to pop out of gear...

What do you think?

The could be worn shifter bushings or a worn selector fork in the transmission.

Thanks. If it is either of those, what's the cost or involment in the repair

Shifter bushings aren't expensive and I'd to that first. If the problem is still there after rebuilding the shifter you'll need to replace the transmission or have it rebuilt.
