    Drive shaft issues

Alright so a couple days ago I started having large vibrations from the center only to find a trashed center carrier and flex disc. After I inspected both U-joints which turned out to be fine. My question is can the carrier go bad from the flex disc going out or vice verse? Before I replace them with new units I want to make sure there is not an unforeseen issue which caused the two to go bad in the first place which will just cause the new parts to go bad aswell.

P.S. the drive shaft still has a harmonic balancer near the trans output with a quarter inch across section that has been very slightly ground down by the shift linkage.

    Any help appreciated.

Yes, one will make the other go bad, but worn u-joints will as well. It is a fairly common thing for the flex disk and center support bearing to go bad though, so that is likely your only problem.

Check your trans and motor mounts.
You can also remove that vibration damper... IE Motorsports sells new bolts and nuts for $12.
