better to rebuild diff or buy another?

my diff is loud as crap right now. it whines so much that with the top up it's all i can hear.
would it be more cost efficient for me to rebuild the one i have with new bearings or buy a used LSD?
my main concern is the used LSD i buy having the same issue. it'd be nice to have a nice "new" rebuilt diff, but is it worth putting that much time and money into an open diff?

The most economical choice is a used differential. But as you know that is a "roll of the dice". If you have the tools and skills a limited slip differential can be rebuilt for $600-700 in parts. But the job is more involved than just swapping in new parts. Backlash, pinion preload, and pinion depth must be adjusted after replacing bearings.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
