    Open diff spider gear - smooth or notchy?

    I have a small case open carrier that I thought was bad but now I dont know. The spiders gears are notchy but the bearings feel good. Are the spider gears suppose to be smooth feeling?

      The spider gears in my open diff feel like complete crap also. I would be interested to know the answer to your question as well.

          Sounds like its right. I might as well throw new bearings in it and put it on the shelf as a spare.
