    Help with clutch! :-(

Helping my buddy out with his 1987 325e.... He was driving it when he came to a stop sign and it wouldn't move. (Like the clutch pedal was pressed down)

Initial thoughts were that the driveshaft bolts fell out or a clutch issue.

Pulled the clutch slave cylinder off the car. This should in theory make sure the clutch is engaged, correct? Anyways, with the car on jack stands and in first gear, I started it up. Wheels didn't turn. Same thing in ALL the gears. (Not a broken gear in the trans)

Feels like the clutch fork (?) Has pressure on it from the pressure plate and the slave moves in and out easily.

Does this sound like the clutch needs to be replaced or something fell out of place in the clutch assembly? I'm thinking if the clutch was glazed over, stuck to the flywheel, or down to metal it would still at least turn the wheels in the air, no?

    Thanks in advance.

Since the wheels didn't turn with the slave cylinder off and the transmission in gear, either there is a problem from the drive shaft back, or the clutch has failed. The clue as to which is what the output flange of the transmission does. If it isn't turning, the problem is inside the bell housing.

The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Driveshaft doesn't turn when in first gear. Working on pulling the trans now.
