    will this driveshaft trick work?

my end goal is to have more play in my engine (i have it on an engine hoist) because i'm having trouble lining something up.

i found a write up and i have to disconnect alllll kinds of shit. BUT i was wondering if i only take off the four bolts that keep the drive shaft to the diff if that will give me a good amount of play to move my engine more freely?

as opposed to removing the entire exhaust, dropping those braces, buncha other shit, and then removing the drive shaft.

any ideas, comments, suggestions, or advice is appreciated! thanks guys.

oh and my cars a vert if that makes a difference for any of this.

The driveshaft is still connected to the trans, which is connected to the body via the trans mounts and the CSB is also holding it to the body. The studs that connect the shaft to the diff are also still into the diff input flange so you'll gain negligible amount of play anywhere. What are you trying to do?

This. Also the shifter carrier is bolted to the body as well.

my engine brackets aren't mounting up to my motor mounts. no matter where we lift it from, no matter which way we pull or shove, no matter what else we lift, we can't align it.

when we lift it high up it aligns, but its lifted like three inches above it. when we drop it it just goes forward and down not just straight down.

so, with THAT said, any advice?

Did you have the arms off? Sure they're not on backwards? Try removing the bottom nuts from the mounts. With everything loosened off (mount arms and motor mounts) you should have enough wiggle room. Just make sure you don't have the arms too loose and mess something up when they hold weight.
