    Diff internal swap?

We took the dirty30 out and at some point the right side mounting bolts for the diff broke. We stopped when we heard the drive shaft rubbing the subframe. We were able to strap the rear end up and make it back to the highway.

So my question is, is it possible to swap the internals from my 4.10LS to my 3.73 open case?
Or should I try and tap the mounting holes on the case?
Haven't dropped the diff yet but I can see the threads on the front mounting hole are damaged

You could swap the internals, but in doing so you'll have to go through all of the preload, backlash, and pinion depth adjustment work that is a part of a rebuild. If the treads in the casing are badly damaged it would be a lot easier just to use a HeliCoil or Timesert to repair the case.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

      Thanks Jim,

Hopefully i will have time to drop it tonight then i will know more. Swapping the internals is the last option i want to take, and if it comes to that i may have a shop do it.

Dropped the rear end, was able to clean the threads and reinstall with lots of locktite. Those rear ends are a pain to install!!!
