Will small case diff seals work in a medium case?

I recently bought a '91 318is a few weeks ago. I should have checked under the car before I bought the parts, but I didn't. :(

I bought a rear seal, which I know wont work because its 6 bolt vs 8 bolt. I also bought the output shaft seals because there is a leak. My question is, does the seal for the small case fit in the medium case? I've searched and Im not finding much. I also checked realoem.com and can't seem to track down which car had the medium case to verify.

    Thanks for any help guys!

Go to realoem.com, plug in the part number and see what cars that part is used on. If 325e/i/is/ic cars are listed the part will work on a medium case differential.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

I did that and it basically lists everything but the 325is/es.

All the way back to the 2002, small case diffs all use the same rear gasket. It will not work on the medium case.

Is he talking about the cover gasket or the shaft seal? I know first hand a E30 diff shaft seal fits and e36 small diff. I use them interchangeably without issue.

I am not talking about the cover gasket.
