    Flywheel Thickness

I am in the middle of a clutch job and removed my flywheel about to take it to be resurfaced, measured it with my dial calipers and it is about 1.240". Spec for minimum is 32mm or 1.260". How serious is the "minimum," do I really need a new flywheel for that small amount? It really does need to be resurfaced, so I can't just put it back on.

    Thanks, JB

I'd resurface and run it in my own car without question.

      I agree with MR 325
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Alright. What's the resoning behind such a thick minimum in the bentley, does it mess with pedal throw?

Theoretically one could run out of movement of the throwout bearing and the clutch not release.

Strike me if I'm wrong for bringing such an old thread back to the top but... I can't seem to believe the minimum thickness for a single mass flywheel for a b25 is 32mm. Is the 32mm for a dual mass? Why are 84' 325 single mass flywheels 25mm minimum thickness? I can't seem to find any definite answers. Anyone have a Bentley on hand that car send me a picture of the minimum thickness for a late model single mass flywheel?
