    Driveshaft vibration....

I Started getting some pretty bad vibration while under a slight load and while accelerating. So, I started taking stuff apart and found some things. There was rubber from the CSB melted to the top of the heat shield, so that's obviously toast. Next I noticed that the PO installed the driveshaft with the wrong alignment. I get ready to remove the driveshaft and notice that the dumb ass PO didn't even install all of the Guibo bolts.... It looks like I need to remove the brace that the transmission mounts to in order to remove the guibo and driveshaft? My car is 90' 325is. Did this originally come with a vibration dampener? Mine has one, but I'm not sure if it is original as so much other stuff seems to be pieced together. I bought a small guibo and a late model CSB, but now I'm not even sure if its a late model driveshaft. Is there any way to tell?

I'm very new to BMW's, so any input is appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Ryan

Since the tranny mounts are crap and I have to remove the cross member, I might as well get poly mounts. Any opinions on the revshift poly trans mounts in 80A?

    Thanks,

    Ryan

What would be the reason for Poly mounts? OEM Mounts are super strong, and stiffer provides nothing much more than extra vibration and cost. Even the Pro3 guys will go poly or aluminum in most places and most leave the transmission mounts OEM. Just a thought :)

With what you found it is hard to be sure, but in most cases a failure of the CSB will be the result of bad u-joints in the drive shaft. A new or rebuilt drive shaft is the fix.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

The U joints are worn out, so it looks like I need to order up a rebuilt shaft. If I already have the thing torn apart, I might as well fix it properly.

Thanks for your input. I already bought some poly trans mounts. If the poly mounts produce too much vibration, then I guess I'll just swap them for OEM mounts and sell the others.
