Getrag 260 trans questions

The transmission I got for my 5 speed swap may have an issue but I am unfamiliar with these transmissions. I can find all 5 gears and can turn it over fine in every gear in forward direction in which the drive terrain is meant to go underpower with the vehicular moving forward. When I try to turn it the other direction it turns about 7-8 times and then stops. My understanding is that it should be able to move freely either way, is this an issue with the transmission or is this normal?
Any insight into this problem?

If the transmission won't freely turn in both directions when in gear, something is wrong inside the box.

Bumping this thread again. Looked at the tranmission again and it will go into all 5 gears and reverse. However the out put flange locks up with gears 1-3. All others spin freely, is this normal? I assuming this transmission is a goner.

I figured, Well now im going to take it apart to see whats wrong.
Then get another one.
