Opinions on this "short Shifter" thingy

Found this on ebay and wanted to know every ones opinion. im thinking of puting this on my track m30 swaped e30. Im not sure if the physics make sense.... but combined with a z3 shifter or other aftermarket shifter, maybe i could make "Super Ultimate Short Shifter"

    anyways check it out

Keep in mind, while this does reduce throw, it will increase the effort needed to shift. Also, you can only extend the shift lever so far before you start having interference issues with things.

im not that concerned with shifting effort (i slam gears anyways :) )
but do you think it will actually reduce shifts... how much is the pivot point raised on a short shifter usualy

The ultimate in shifters, especially for a track car, is one that is very precise and has no lost play in it. The amount of motion isn't important, but precision is. Examples of this would the AutoSolutions Race shifter, or the AGK shifter.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

I have been running one one of those Cartoka short shift kits for about six months (installed at the same time as all new shift linkage bushings). It does work well, and it's easy to install. I really enjoy the shifter feel it provided.
It isn't perfect however. Although the front to back motion is very tight, the side to side is a little looser, due to the fact that I couldn't eliminate all of the play where the shift rod slides through. If I spent more time working with it, and trying different washers in place of the plastic bushings I'm certain I could have improved it.
All in all, I am happy with it, especially considering the price. Would a z3 shifter provide better results? Probably.
Was the Ebay piece a waste of money? Absolutely not.
