    clutch help!

so im trying to change the clutch in my 91 325i but im having trouble getting to all of the bolts. Could someone tell me how? I have heard that you need to take off the intake manifold to do it but is that neccesary?

To reach bolts on top of trans?

Use a 3ft extension and a universal, reach from the tailshaft.

The top bolts on the transmission are what gives folks problems. But it isn't that hard if you go about it the right way.

With the transmission cross brace removed, use an engine brace, hoist or jack to lift the front of the engine until the head hits the firewall, allowing the rear of the transmission to drop down. You may want to, or need to, drain the radiator and remove the bottom hose. That will give you enough room to get your hand over the top of the transmission. With two feet or so of extensions you'll be able remove the top bolts. A wobble extension works much better for this than a universal joint.

You can, just barely, reach the upper starter nut from underneath the car. The lower bolt & nut is no problem.
