    1st and 2nd gear

When I try to take off in 1st gear its like the clutch doesn't want to engage and tries to stall. Also going into 2nd its very grindy before it actually engages. It goes through gears way too fast, I'm already in 5th gear at 50 mph and it wont go any faster than 60. Could my set up affect the first two gears? I have an 88 325i engine with an early eta transmission. I'm not sure on the diff that I'm using but ill check it soon. I have solid motor and trans mounts, single mass flywheel and from the looks of it a 325i T/O bearing.

What would be the fix, a different T/O bearing?

If you're in gear and the clutch is not slipping, then there is no way you are not able to go faster than 50...

Aside from a worn clutch, I don't know what would cause your problem.

drive at 50, push in the clutch and floor the gas pedal. Then let out of the clutch while holding the gas down, if it jerks and engages its fine, if it slips into the gear and doesnt accelerate your clutch is bad.

If I recall correctly, an early ETA transmission has a slightly deeper bell housing. Meaning that you need to use a different throw out bearing. A search should turn up what part you need, but sort of think it would be one from an early (before 03/84) 323.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
