    Transmission Questions

I am considering doing a 5 speed swap on my vert. The donor car would be an early model es and I have an early model ic. The trans for both cars were the G260 correct? I was looking up clutch kits and it shows different kits for the "i" cars and the "e" cars. Can I use either one or would I need the "e" kit? Also what else would need to be changed? Can I use the driveshaft from that car or will I have to get a different one?

The trans from the e will work with a I clutch, you would just have to get a single mass fly wheel.

And I don't know about the drive shaft

The drive shaft will work. You will want to get an M20B25 flywheel, clutch, pilot, and throwout bearing. There could be a problem with an early M20B27 transmission bell housing depth requiring the use of a different throwout bearing. You will probably want to use the M3 adapter that allows the aluminum shifter to be mounted on that transmission. And you'll need to plug the holes in the bell housing.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
