    Moving when clutch to floor

    Hey R3V Ltd.,

When in gear & my clutch to the floor, there is still movement. I've tested this by putting the vehicle into neutral and taking foot off clutch when stopped at a light to confirm it wasn't the slope of the road.

I'm thinking, air in the clutch line (needs bleed), so the clutch isn't fully disengaged.

    Any other ideas?

    Vehicle: '86 325e

    thanks in advance,
    - Colin

check for leaks at your clutch master cylinder and slave cyl. if any are leaking replace and bleed the clutch system.

I have no idea. Where would I look to confirm? What is its purpose?

You would have added it if you had it. It is a puck-shaped piece of rubber that threads in below your clutch to reduce your travel distance and can make bleeding hard if its not removed

I say give it a little bleed make sure you check for leaks! Using a vacuum bleeder on the slave sometimes helps the awkward angle

I've just purchased the car, so I'm not sure exactly what has been done. I'm thinking it's probably a bleed (the pedal is quite soft, but I just chalked that up to an old/weak clutch/pressure plate).

Awkward you say? Ugh. I haven't looked where the slave is.

Someone may have put one on there. Same thing happened to me once, My tires were still rolling with the clutch pedal all the way in, I got ready to take the tranny back off then remembered the P.O had put a clutch stop on it, took it out problem solved.

Hopefully its that easy for you

Side bar - what's the purpose of a clutch stop?

Okay I'm going to go out on a limb here and ask: did you check anything yet? Or did you just notice the symptoms and come post online?

Reduces the pedal travel for faster shifting -- eliminating the usual dead space at the end of the clutch pedal

Best $10 mod ever. Affects speed, drivability, etc.... But you need to be careful when bleeding

And if its out to far your clutch pedal wont travel far enough. Hints why I said what I said

^^ good point. Mines like all the way in as far as it will go and it's still way enough lol

I checked for leaks to the best of my ability (snow here & lowered car). There hasn't been any fluid on the ground and I looked under the hood and didn't see any dripping. I'm new to these cars, so you never know if this is the sort of issue is common.

Also, no clutch pedal stop has been installed.

Check under the dash on the drivers side. That's where your clutch master cylinder lives.
