    Center Support Bearing issues!

ok so 2 weeks ago i installed a new csb. i know i had did the install properly as i have seen almost every thread about installing it.. but its already bad again and clunking how it used too.. it was fine for a few days..but when i went to install the bearing and pre-load it. just letting it rest as it was it was all the way pre-loaded to the front. if i was to bolt it up properly i actually had to push the bearing back towards the diff.... does this mean i maybe installed it backwards? i put it on the way i took it off with the collard side faicing forward.. someone please help its annoying me

May have been installed backwards. Just did mine too, and had plenty of room to use forward for preload. How long was the old one installed for before it failed? How about the U-joints?

The general discussion forum is not a catch-all for technical info. Please post in the correct forum next time.

Im going to guess you have alignment issues. Even cheap CSB's are ok as most have INA or better bearings in them.
Other than installing it incorrectly Id look at worn engine and or tranny mounts to start with. Hows the guibo? and did you replace that at the same time?

the guibo looked brand new so i did not replace it. it had been replaced before... but all the bolts were going in the same direction from the driveshaft towards the tranny.. instead of three facing one way and three facing another. my u joints just flopped around when the d.s was out so i think it may be a combo of things

The thumping coming back so soon means that (as usual) the failure of the CSB was caused by the drive shaft. The fix is a new or rebuilt drive shaft. A rebuilt usually come with a new CSB installed correctly.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

I'll disagree with you on that, have had a rash of MTC center bearing rubber disintegrate within a couple weeks.

First place I'd be looking is the U-joints as mentioned and alluded to. To inspect U-joints wiggle either side in relation to each other. If there is play, there's your issue.

so hold both parts of the u joints and see if their is play between them... when i had the ds apart the middle u joints flopped around freely... more than it did at the ujoints by where the diff was... but i didnt wiggle each side

Binding u-joints are even worse as far as the CSB is concerned.

I went through this same thing. I thought I just needed to replace my csb, but then after inspecting the shaft, I noticed that the u joints were shot. I bought a rebuilt shaft with a new csb and replaced the guibo. My car drives great with no vibrations. I would guess that the u joints are shot.
