M42 starter not engaging

    M42 starter not engaging



    i dont know what it is. its a m20 starter on my flywheel swap. what do i have to do now to make it engage onto the flywheel

    do i have to swap out the pinions on the starter?

    Getting the correct starter for the engine sounds like the right solution to me.
    The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

      But it has a m20 flywheel so wouldn't the m20 starter be correct?

        The engine block & crank also affect what starter is needed. I see different part numbers on realoem.com. And that starter is only used on 318's with the M42 engine.
        The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
