Best Options for a Tight Shifter ??

I will apologize up front since I'm sure this topic has been covered before - but I haven't found the Thread yet.

    We endurance race a 86 325e with a m30/3.5L ( 10-24hrs at a shot).

I just installed a 3.91 LSD so we will be shifting more and into 5th for the first time. I need a tight / notchy gated feel for the shifter if that's possible.

Please tell me what you have done out there -

Our current setup is all factory with new bushings so on - they typical rebuild stuff - still not happy.

    So -
I'm assuming we install a DSSR?

I have also seen someone selling a Delrin bushing to replace the floating rubber mount at the rear of the upper part that bolts to the body - anyone try this? Will it bind up under load?

    Thanks

I've also got an m30b35 swap.

I'm running a bimmerworld body mounted race shifter
    Shortened AKG dssr
    Bimmerworld jaffister knob

Can't beat it for notchy/gated shifting. there is ZERO play. It has the shortest throw of any car I've ever shifted. Plus it makes you feel like a race car driver.

Quick warning tho for those that copy my setup. You are going to want poly or solid engine/trans mounts.

The two best solutions I know of are the AutoSolutions race shaft or the AKG body mounted shifter. They are essentially identical in performance. Neither is a short shifter and that is a good thing as the greater throw lessens the chance of a miss shift.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
