    Help: 5 Speed swap

    Been searching the threads and not having much luck.

    Looking for threads: 'How to' and anything and everything I need to know about doing a swap, thanks for taking the time to help, even if you point me in the right direction!


    Goal: Swap auto transmission to 5-speed

    What: 87 M20 325is

    With what: Another stock 5-speed BMW tranny

      me too, been searching for almost 4 months collecting info. You should be able to reuse your guibo(if not destroyed). also dont forget to get PP bolts and flywheel bolts. the rest you may have. Dont forget to get the rubber slave line and all. the link is also SUPER awsome

          Thank you! Yea I will for sure get new parts and pieces when bolting on a used tranny. This mint M20 only has 90k miles. Been in the family since new, it's about time It got a swap.

            Used that guide when I did my 5-speed. its pretty straightforward.
            The swap is easy too; people get overwhelmed because most have never dropped a transmission in their life, but its all pretty straightforward once you drop the auto

              I too am wanting to swap in a 5-spd into my 88. I bought a parts car with the manual, so I should have everything i need. No only if the weather was a bit warmer. I dont look forward to laying on cold concrete.

                Sounds like a e36 tranny will even fit in. An e30
