Short shifter in a early model

Hey, quick question do you need the spring off the old shift rod if you're installing a short shifter? Not sure if the type of shift rod matters, but was just curious. Thanks. Alittle stuck on the plastic bits.

You will need to save all those pieces from your old shifter.

Well got it off, there is no bitch clip though? Theres a hole where it should be, but its not.. nor a circlip on the selector rod.

But I can't pull it out?

Should be an inner snap ring in the sheet metal console.

Yeah I have everything taken down to the transmission flange bolt. I've been stuck on for about a day now. Been throwing everything at it.

Put your purse down and put some force into pulling it out :D

Had to blow torch it for 5 minutes, smoked out my garage and used a snap on impact wrench and blew right off.

When in doubt use fire.
