Swapping LSD internals

I have a 4.10 LSD from an e34 medium case that I wish to swap out internals to a e30 housing. I have done some research and have got an idea as to what is possible and what is not, but I wanted to run it through some experienced members here before I proceed.

As for the actual rebuilding, my father in law is helping me out. He is an ex BMW mechanic so I'm lucky to have him.

Here are my questions/options?

1) The internals of this LSD should swap straight into a med case e30 housing correct?

2) Is there any way that these internals will fit into a small case e30 housing?

Gears and lsd do directly install with the proper parts.


4.10 lsd comes in many automatic e30's natively- if spending the time /effort/ money why not do a custom ratio like 3.91? E34's have those also.
