How can I tell what kind of diff is in my car?

Hey all, I was wondering if there was any way to quickly find out what kind of diff my car has.

After some research, I found out that most '91 325i's have 3.73 diffs, but since I haven't been able to drive my car yet, I can't tell if it's LSD or open.

I heard there was some site where you could put your VIN in and it would tell you what came with the car from factory. Would this site tell me what kind of diff there is?

Is there an easy way to tell visually whether a diff is open or LSD?

Lift rear tires. Spin tire. If they both roll in the same direction it's a lsd. Open if they spin opposite. Search

Look for the tag on the diff, my 86 still had it anyways. Mine either said 2.93s or s2.93. The s will mean LSD
