    Transmission fluid

I have a 1991 318ic that I am about to put the engine and transmission back into. What kind of fluid/oil should I put in the transmission, and how much? it has the stock 5 speed manual.

    Thanks!
    Dan

The 318is is spec'd for ATF.

I use either Valvoline Import Synthetic ATF, or if for performance/track use we use Torco RTF (Racing Trans Fluid).

You do not want a thick gear oil in the 318is Transmission.

            It takes approx. 1.5 qrts
