    1987 325iS transmission into 1988 325iS

My 88' 325iS developed a problem where 3rd gear would pop out if you don't jam it in and as of recently it won't even go into 3rd anymore so I am going to replace the tranny. I found one on craigslist (GETRAG 260?) with 150k miles but it is from a 1987 325iS, would it be a direct bolt on?

Are the trannys on these prone to breakage? It is my first e30 and seeing that it is a getrag it should be good right? I am worried that the new used one is going to have problems too. I come from a Toyota AE86 background and the T50 on those are made of glass and all of them in the used market are pretty much bad.

That transmission should be plug-n-play. The Getrag 260 transmissions are pretty robust.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

I think the synchros were updated in 88 but the transmissions are interchangeable, and as stated before, robust.
